Defensible Space
What is Defensible Space?
"Defensible space" is an area around your home in which potential fuel has been reduced to an acceptable level. It is not a clear cut, but rather selective thinning, limbing, and brush removal.

The idea is that when a fire approaches your home, the reduced fuels around your home cause the fire to lose intensity, therefore no longer threatening your home.

A Healthy Tree Stand Around Your Cabin

Rather than leaving the cabin barren and void of trees, we provide an aesthetically appealing area that looks better after we’re done than when we started. We use minimum impact techniques like selective thinning not logging, followed by chipping and spreading of the slash onto the ground to cover up ground scars. This also leaves a bed of nutrients on the ground which replenish those that were removed.
Why 100 Feet?

Proper clearance to 100 feet dramatically increases the chance of your house surviving a wildfire. This defensible space also provides for firefighter safety when protecting homes during a wildland fire.
